David Schlangen, District 5
As a resident of Camarillo for over 50 years, I can't imagine living anywhere else. Growing up here in Camarillo, I utilized many of the parks and still do today. I know how important safe and beautiful parks are for our community and I will work to continue to make sure that they are for our current residents and for individuals in the future. My goals are to be fiscally prudent with your money and balance the budget while still not imposing large fee increases on youth sports groups.
I attended K thru 12 at our local schools and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a Minor in History from the University of California - Santa Barbara. I went on to achieve the Project Manager Professional (PMP) Designation and have used that as a Project Manager at Amgen for 20 years and a Project Manager at Farmers Insurance for 6 years.
I have also been very involved in our community by being the Head Usher at St. Mary Magdalen Parish (15+ years), former President Camarillo Ranch Foundation Board of Directors (8 years), former Vice-President Camarillo Arts Council Board of Directors (7 years), former Camarillo Youth Basketball Association (CYBA) Coach and former Chairperson of the Camarillo Citizens Advisory Committee (6 years).
Thru these activities, I have been awarded the Pleasant Valley Historical Society "Spanish Don" Recipient in 2017, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles "Partners in Service Award" Recipient in 2017 and the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce Top Ten Community Awards: "Volunteer of the Year" in 2018.
